About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Director, Corporate Relations, the Development Officer, Corporate Relations plays a vital role in building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate partners. Working closely with the Corporate Relations and Development teams, the Officer, Corporate Relations will cultivate, secure, and steward corporate gifts in the $5000 to $25,000 range, and oversee the day to day delivery of sponsorship and cause marketing activities within BCCF.


Key responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of sponsorship and major gift proposals and corporate presentations
  • Developing an understanding of BCCF fundraising priorities, attending prospect and donor strategy meetings where necessary to recommend research strategies and approaches
  • Maintaining accurate, strategic and timely information on prospects and donors in our database through coordination with database team
  • Researching, prospecting and qualifying new corporate prospects for further action, in line with organizational fundraising priorities
  • Identifying new prospective corporate donors, assessing their investment capacity and potential, uncovering facts that show how an optimum size gift may best be solicited, contributing to the development of targeted cultivation strategies
  • Identifying giving patterns of current corporate donors and high level prospects; identifying donors with potential for growth and increased involvement with BCCF
  • Working closely with the Senior Development Officer, Corporate Relations to oversee sponsorship activity within the corporate portfolio, including working with Event Manager(s) to define sponsorship benefits and valuations as well as identifying and cultivating sponsorship leads
  • Overseeing Cause Marketing activity, including responding to prospect inquiries, updating the Cause Marketing section of the website, as well as coordinating, implementing and maintaining the recognition and stewardship plan for Cause Marketing partners
  • Working with Donor Engagement staff to coordinate recognition and stewardship initiatives, tracking stewardship activities for partners and sponsors, preparing reports and setting annual goals and targets



  • 5+ years related experience, preferably working within fundraising or sponsorship, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • A willingness to work beyond core work hours, as the occasional evening or weekend may be required
  • Marketing agency experience is a bonus


Core knowledge + skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the public, donors, prospective donors, professional advisors and all levels of staff and volunteers
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to be resourceful and creative
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a dynamic team setting and be considered a team player
  • Ability to work with a varied group of stakeholders and interact with donors using tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Foster an environment that ensures corporate donors have a meaningful experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, when required
  • Strong data analysis and proof-reading skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer skills: demonstrated advanced competence in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook) and intermediate experience with Raiser’s Edge or another customer relationship management system
