What you’ll do

It’s an exciting time to join our expanding Finance and Donor Services teams as a Senior Financial Analyst. These dynamic teams are responsible for the accurate and timely financial activities of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. From meticulously managing internal and external financial reporting to leading business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, our teams diligently safeguard the Foundation's financial integrity. Our Finance and Donor Services teams also play a vital role in tax receipting, supporting annual lottery activities, and driving forward process improvement projects, among other important initiatives.

Reporting to the Vice President & CFO, you will be a strategic business partner and ensure that the Vice President & CFO has appropriate support for the financial strategic and operational activities of the Foundation.

More specifically, you will:

  • Lead the annual business planning process(includes rolling out the annual process, coordinating activities with the Leadership Team to support both independent business plans as well as the overall Foundation business plan).
  • Support the Finance team with annual budgeting and annual/long-term forecasting processes.
  • Engage and take the lead in various business process reviews and re-engineering to enhance and improve efficiencies and effectiveness. Make recommendations for changes to processes and procedures that will lead to improved accuracy and reduced manual effort.
  • Act as the central point of contact for Digital Transformation projects and other process improvement projects that impact Finance and Donor Services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure finance is appropriately represented in projects.
  • Support the creation of presentations for the Finance & Investment Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Support changes and updates to policies and procedures.
  • Create financial models in support of business cases, organization design, large-scale investments, etc.
  • Develop and maintain financial performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of business operations.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in financial analysis and reporting.

In addition to the above qualifications, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or related discipline.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a complex accounting/finance role.
  • Experience working with complex business planning activities/concepts.
  • Experience with forecasting and budget activities in a medium sized organization.
  • Strong process improvement skills and experience supporting implementation of technology solutions, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and finance concepts, including GAAP.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with technology implementations, working with multiple stakeholders, consultants, etc.
  • Ability to think strategically, grasp complex business and financial theories.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy.
  • An understanding of change management concepts is an asset.
  • Expert Excel skills and solid knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)

This position is based in our office located in Vancouver, BC.

 The hiring range for this position is between $85,000 and $97,200; you will be eligible for annual salary increases based on performance and will have the potential to earn up to the current maximum for the role of $102,000. once hired, you will be eligible for annual salary increases based on performance. At BCCHF, we are committed to ensuring that compensation is fair and equitable. Your placement in the hiring range will be dependent on factors such as experience, relevant skills and qualifications, and internal equity.
