Job Description

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is looking for our next GREAT colleague to join us as Supervisor, Accounting. 


Under the general direction of the Manager, Financial Accounting, the Supervisor, Accounting is responsible for responsible for accounting and management of information for gaming, treasury and fixed assets, providing input to management information reporting in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and other applicable statutes and regulations in all relevant jurisdictions, and identifying business process improvements opportunities and managing related projects. Is responsible for assisting with the planning and directing of accounting strategy, ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, oversees accounting for treasury, revenue, and expenditures, motivates and leads by example and provides a learning environment. Develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports, spearheads and implements all new accounting operations initiatives; participates in the recruitment and hiring process.


Duties and responsibilities for our next Supervisor, Accounting will include:

  • Planning and coordinating an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close and timely reporting of financial information
  • Overseeing accounting transactions and processes related to all aspects of business, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and internal control improvement
  • Reviewing monthly and quarterly working papers and general ledger reconciliations; providing feedback to accounting team for improvements
  • Reviewing and maintaining the integrity of accounting systems and sub-systems; identifies opportunities for efficiencies and internal controls improvement
  • Reviewing sales tax and non-resident withholding tax returns for all BC subsidiaries
  • Monitoring compliance of accounting and reporting policies and procedures
  • Assisting with accounting operation strategic plans implementation
  • Liaising closely with Financial Reporting, operations, financial institutions, suppliers, and internal/external auditors
  • Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate business units
  • Developing and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, employees, management, vendors
  • Identifying training requirements for the accounting operation and ensuring work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to the accounting operations as well as developing performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performing and managing other finance related projects as assigned or directed

  • Post Secondary education in accounting/finance or suitable combination of education and experience
  • CPA Designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting management
  • Computer literacy in MS Office; experience in JDE or a related accounting software
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
