General Description of Job

Bar Stewards maintain stock levels and ensure the bars have all required product/stock necessary to serve the guests. They pick up glasses throughout the Casino facility and assist with stock in other bars located throughout the complex.  Bar stewards must be personable and able to communicate clearly. They should be able to work in a team and work efficiently under pressure.  Other duties include, but are not limited to: serving beverages -- from soft drinks to beer, wine and spirits, make drinks quickly and accurately without wastage (when required) and may also collect payment from the customer and use the cash register; occasionally a bar steward might also serve food to customers eating at the bar.



Working Conditions

  • Physical mobility and stamina is required (must be able to lift 25 kg)
  • Must be able to work standing for 8 hour shifts, and overtime as required.
  • Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  • Work within a 24/7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evening, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Willing to submit to a criminal record check with results acceptable to our organization, standards and position, and/or obtain and maintain an NBLGC license registration
  • Must have employment eligibility in Canada
  • Must be 19 years of age or older


Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Personal customer service—knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent, personalized customer service. This includes assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards for services
  • Mathematics—solid understanding and aptitude in arithmetic.
  • Active listening—awareness of the techniques that ensure clear communication with guests and staff, which include paying full attention to what is being said, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions when appropriate, and not interrupting.
  • Service orientation—consistent effort to look for ways to help people.
  • Critical thinking—use of logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is necessary
