Job Description

Great Canadian is looking for our next GREAT colleague to join us Project Manager. Please note this is a contract position with an expected end date of August 3, 2019, with possible opportunity for long-term employment based on business needs.  


Under the general direction of the Director, Design & Construction Management, this position is responsible for completing projects of all sizes related to all phases of development and construction, including project budgeting, project and construction scheduling, proposal work and coordination among architects, internal stakeholders, consultants, regulatory bodies and contractors. 


Duties and responsibilities for our next Project Manager will include:

  • Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments at a senior and executive level
  • Meeting with local (city) jurisdiction regarding project scope, cost, and servicing agreements
  • Developing renovation project plans, including schedules, construction budget, FF&E and soft costs, ensuring cost and time effectiveness
  • Coordinating and executing an efficient project plan, leveraging former lessons learned and project artifacts and own enhancements
  • Overseeing the performance of all trade contractors, reviewing architectural and engineering drawings (hard copies & AutoCAD format), ensuring all specifications and regulations are adhered to
  • Monitoring and managing development project risks
  • Assisting the consultant team regarding design and owner input
  • Documenting, controlling and tracking appropriate administrative records of construction contracts and obtains all necessary permits and licenses
  • Tracking and controlling construction schedule and costs to achieve completion within time and budget, and taking corrective action as required
  • Providing regular weekly and monthly progress reports as required
  • Developing   and   cultivating   strong   working   relationships with all   stakeholders:   guests, management, vendors, trades and employees
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Coordinating with gaming corporations and gaming authorities as it relates to project work
  • Completing formal project close/lessons learned process
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed

  • Post-Secondary education in project management and construction management, architectural building technology or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Three years of experience in a similar role
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Project and AutoCAD required
  • Construction and design experience in casinos, hotels and restaurants (i.e. commercial & institutional) required
  • Sound technical understanding of building systems and structures
  • Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate numerous internal and external resources
