Job Description

Ontario Gaming East Limited Partnership (OGELP), a controlled affiliate of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, is currently seeking a driven and energetic individual to join our growing business in eastern Ontario as Director, Finance.   The Director, Finance reports to the Vice President, Operations -East and is responsible for the overall senior direction of the company’s finance operations for the three OGELP properties under the Shorelines banner: Casino Thousand Islands (Gananoque), Casino Belleville and Casino Peterborough.

 

As our ideal candidate, the Director, Finance will be a seasoned and confident leader with the knowledge, skills and abilities to execute the following duties and responsibilities: 

  • Providing commercial and financial leadership for all OGELP sites
  • Proactively partnering with management, property management and outside stakeholders to ensure operational business objectives are established and aligned with corporate strategic objectives
  • Managing and maintaining strong working relationships with regulators in OGELP, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (and subsidiaries), lenders and financial institutions, suppliers, external auditors, government and Crown partners, etc.
  • Stewarding sound finance operations across the OGELP sites
  • Providing advice, direction and counsel to the VP, General Managers and the Operations Management team in financial matters
  • Supporting the VP in leading the business’s strategic planning processes
  • Leading processes in OGELP for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports required by regulators, lenders, partnerships, and Great Canadian Gaming
  • Directing operational analysis and financial planning in OGELP including, but not limited to, analysis of marketing initiatives, labour and capital investment to ensure optimum efficiency, effectiveness and desired ROI
  • Leading the company’s budget process in OGELP and liaising with Great Canadian Gaming Corporation stakeholders to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Identifying strategic opportunities for improvement and efficiency such as revenue growth, cost savings, business process improvement
  • Proactively contributing to the achievement of the organization’s short and long-term business goals
  • Maintaining sound up-to-date understanding and knowledge of the gaming business, taxation, accounting, payroll issues and practices, as well as the technology required to effectively fulfill responsibilities
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent designation
  • MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of post-certification experience as a financial and business controller, preferably in a large hospitality or gaming operation
  • Advanced computer proficiency in MS Office suite with mastery in Excel and enterprise resource planning systems (preferably JD Edwards) and Cognos EP
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication

Location: This position will be based out of the Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands property in Gananoque, Ontario
