Job Description

Are you looking to advance your career? Casino Nanaimo is looking for a part time Surveillance Operator with great customer service skills to join our surveillance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the monitoring of all areas of the casino property and maintaining documentation. This position requires schedule flexibility including evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring, documenting and reporting violations regarding large cash/cash equivalent transactions, exclude and self-excluded guests and unauthorized access
  • Maintaining logs, preparing daily reports; storing records for evidence purposes
  • Monitoring and documenting and reporting on the condition of surveillance facilities and equipment
  • Performing preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Gaming knowledge an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail, with the ability to focus on monitors for long periods of time
  • Possess a high level of honesty and integrity
  • Adherence to high standards, methods and procedures
  • Computer proficiency
  • Background experience in Criminology an asset
  • Complying with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performing other duties as required


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and that ability to   focus on monitors for long periods of time
  • Possess a high level of honesty and integrity; adherence to high standards, methods and   procedures
  • Computer proficiency is a requirement and strong typing abilities are an asset
  • Gaming knowledge and surveillance experience as well as background experience in Criminology as asset
  • Understanding of yourself and others when communicating with team members and guests
  • Ability to work in a team environment and     successfully multi-task
  • Professional attitude and appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and a team player
  • Serving it right certificate is required
  • The ability to successfully maintain a Criminal Record Check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch
