Job Description

Are you looking to advance your career? Casino Nanaimo is looking for a Cage Cashier with great customer service skills to join the Cage department. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily interaction with customers and cash handling on a shift basis while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees and guests. This position requires schedule flexibility including evenings, holidays, and weekend shifts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Handling cash transactions including but not limited to foreign currency exchange, traveler’s cheques, cash counts, coins and bills
  •  Monitoring and reporting all discrepancies and suspicious cash activities· Redeeming value chips and gaming tickets for cash
  •  Verifying and processing machine fills, machine jackpots, cancelled credits as well as table fills and credits
  •  Issuing floats to Slot Attendants (or others); reconciling closing floats· Transferring and storing closing floats, key and record keeping documents
  •  Documenting and reconciling transactions; may reconcile bank deposits
  •  Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  •  Building working relationships with our internal and external guests
  •  Complying with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  •  Performing other duties as assigned or directed.



  • Minimum one year recent Cashier experience
  • High school diploma required, post secondary education an asset
  • Strong communication and mathematical skills
  • Possesses a quick reaction time to respond, resolve or escalate cage issues when needed
  • Has the knowledge and ability to monitor and report all discrepancies and suspicious cash/activities
  • Manual dexterity and able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to adapt and work a flexible schedule
  • Proven excellent guest service and people skills
  • Professional attitude and appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and a team player

 Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. The hours of work will be based on guest and business needs.
