Purpose of Job

The Manager of Slots Operations will be responsible for the implementation and execution of goals and objectives regarding the overall administration of slot operations. The Manager of Slots Operations must stay abreast of changes in the casino environment to best serve the objectives of the organization and be knowledgeable about player events, marketing promotions and services/amenities throughout the property.  The Manager of Slots Operations must have the ability to bring about results from ordinary circumstances; prepare for problems or opportunities in advance; transform leads into productive business outcomes; undertake additional responsibilities and respond to situations as they arise without supervision.

Manage Slot area in compliance with the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation (NBLGC) terms and conditions, site controls and department policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a valid Gaming Control Registration
  • Reports to the Director of Gaming Operations
  • Will review and report on all financial analysis of the Slot Department to include but not limited to PO’s, monthly financials, invoice compare and reviewEnsure that all slot machines and related equipment are maintained and repaired properly by requesting machine repairs and communicating with the Slot Technician Supervisor and available technical team members
  • Ensure that all applicable controls and policies and procedures pertaining to the slot gaming area are strictly adhered to
  • Perform jackpot inspections as outlined by the department policies and procedures, site controls and NBLGC regulations
  • Supervise team to meet and exceed performance expectations by establishing and maintaining a positive work environment and effective employee relations
  • Promote and maintain the utmost integrity, the highest caliber of customer service and respect to all customers, slot department team members and Casino  personnel
  • Implement appropriate problem solving methods to resolve issues and concerns to a positive outcome
  • Ensures schedules are prepared and make decisions in the hiring, training, evaluating, and rewarding of staff; apply disciplinary/corrective counseling to staff and performance evaluations
  • Complete reports and forward as need, bringing pertinent issues forward in a timely manner
  • Maintain general awareness of gaming operation at all times and comply with security policies and procedures in order to secure company assets
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.   Comply with safety procedures including use of required safety equipment and identify unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Additional, different responsibilities or related duties, may be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Gaming Operations
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), regulations and internal health and safety policies and procedures including any departmental policies

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Can remain open to change and vary opinion based on new information;
  • perform a wide variety of tasks and change focus quickly as demands change;
  • Manage transitions effectively from task to task; and adapt to varying customer needs;
  • Supervises Electronic, Slot and Game activities and personnel, to ensure compliance with NBLGC Casino Standards, Policies and Procedures;
  • Supervises all Slot attendants, Electronic, Slot and Game area floor activities and Electronic, Slot and Game operations;
  • Undertakes customer service activities dealing with inquiries and disputes regarding jackpot payouts, tickets, making change, etc;
  • Oversees opening and closing procedures as required;
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Use proper lifting, bending, pushing and pulling techniques
  • Perform job tasks and remain vigilant in the event of an emergency
  • The capabilities to multi task under time constraints
  • Work within a 24/7 operation with ability to work flexible hours when required (days, evening, nights, weekends and holidays)
  • Willing to submit to a criminal record check with results acceptable to our organization, standards and position, and/or obtain and maintain an NBLGC license registration
  • Must have employment eligibility in Canada
  • Must be 19 years of age or older

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Must have five to seven years’ experience performing and managing team members and possess a college or university degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a similar position.
  • Must have slot analysis experience and a proven track record reflecting strong knowledge and experience related to slot operations.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in a clear, accurate and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Previous slot supervisory experience required, preferably in a customer service environment
  • To logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to perceive quality of work, read material and review documents, receive/follow/apply instructions
  • Possess high-quality interpersonal skills and work well in a team
  • Set and achieve high standards of performance and customer service skills (internal & external)
  • To fully understand and have the ability to complete all duties within the department
  • Comprehend and apply all NBLGC, Casino , and slot department policies and procedures
  • Perform basic math skills and use problem solving skills
  • Wide range of computer knowledge of different programs (word, excel, power point, etc)
