Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director, Leadership & Development, Human Resources, the Corporate Trainer thrives in helping people grow and will use their knowledge and experience to teach others and help them achieve success. The Corporate Trainer will help to improve performance through learning; deliver corporate leadership and HR programs to support business priorities and objectives; evaluate learning programs; and support sustainment of learning across the organization. Adhering to all policies and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members is also a must. 


Duties and responsibilities for our next Corporate Trainer will include:

  • Facilitating leadership development and other soft skills training using a variety of formats such as group discussions, role-playing, team exercises, etc.
  • Preparing lesson plans relevant to training material; presenting information in an engaging way and adjusting style to fit with audience
  • Creating and developing resources that help reinforce learning content throughout the learning cycle (pre, during and post classroom learning)
  • Monitoring and evaluating training programs in order to plan future courses or to redesign existing ones and track and measure program success
  • Facilitating programs in a way that engages learners and ensures knowledge transfer
  • Assisting to certify others to deliver in-house training
  • Identifying and completing program preparation needs including: stakeholder communication, learner communication; booking, setting up and tearing  down of training rooms; photocopying and set-up of materials and equipment; maintaining and printing appropriate class lists; creating, updating, and maintaining training manuals, documents, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed

  • Post-Secondary education in Training/Education/Human Resources or suitable combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of adult teaching experience
  • 5 – 8 years of progressive training/human resources/adult education experience
  • Demonstrate a desire to train others to enhance learning and to develop their skills
  • Commitment to teamwork through relationship-building and effective collaboration
  • Excellent writing skills, attention to detail and ability to manage diverse projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, evolving environment
  • Lead by example and be an independent and self-sufficient instructor
  • Maintain and exercise a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • In good standing and have a credible reputation among peers and managers
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and eLearning a plus
  • Knowledge of Company values and practices and support of same
  • Ability to travel within Canada; reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Training, HR or other suitable designation an asset
  • Comply with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
