Job Description

Great Canadian is looking for our next GREAT colleague to join us as our IT Support Specialist. 


Under the general supervision of the Manager, Helpdesk, this position is responsible for providing 1st and 2nd level site-based and remote technical support in prescribed technology areas. The incumbent will ensure adherence to all policies and procedures, while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.

Duties and responsibilities for our next IT Support Specialist will include:

  • Receiving and assessing end user IT issues; performing appropriate trouble shooting activities for application, system and network environments
  • Defining and resolving IT issues; escalating if necessary
  • Recording investigative, diagnostic and corrective activities for all IT issues
  • Creating knowledge articles and training documentation
  • Performing initial assessment of service desk requests
  • Performing system deployment activities including remote or on-site installations
  • Coordinating with vendors and internal resources for deployment of site-based solutions
  • Performing hands-on corrective activities at operating locations as required
  • Identifying opportunities and proposes solutions for continuous improvement
  • Following IT policies and procedures and maintains working knowledge of utilized technologies
  • Conducting analysis and troubleshooting and resolves system hardware, software and networking issues, including operating systems
  • Establishing and maintaining IT processes supporting assigned systems
  • Availability for rotational, after-hours, on-call user support and troubleshooting
  • Communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Building strong working relationships with guests, employees and vendors
  • Complying with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned or directed

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT support and customer service
  • Post-secondary education in IT or a suitable combination of education and experience
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and MS Windows
  • Proven troubleshooting experience for O/S, application, network, workstation and laptop technologies
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
