Job Description

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is a Canadian based company that operates gaming, entertainment and hospitality facilities in British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Washington State. The Company has 22 gaming properties, which consists of twelve casinos, including a four Diamond resort hotel in Richmond, BC and a four star hotel in Moncton, NB, four horse racetrack casinos, three community gaming centres and one commercial bingo hall. Great Canadian is looking for our next GREAT colleague to join us as our Accountant, Payroll. Under the general supervision of the Manager, Financial Reporting - Consolidation, and working closely with Lead, Payroll Accountant, this position is responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial payroll and benefit reporting. Please note that this is a 13 month contract position. 


Duties and responsibilities for our next Accountant, Payroll will include:

  • Reconciling payroll and benefit accounts
  • Preparing monthly payroll and payroll related benefits entries
  • Maintaining remittance schedules
  • Preparing payroll bank reconciliations
  • Preparing payroll liability accounts reconciliation and working paper
  • Preparing bi-weekly payroll benefits files, submissions, cheque requisitions, reconciliations and reports
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Finance
  • Assisting with labour costs analysis
  • Coordinating with internal and external auditors
  • Coordinating with Payroll and HR for any payroll and benefit related issues

  • Post-secondary education in payroll/accounting/finance or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll accounting
  • Payroll designation an asset, CMA/CGA level 4 and above an asset
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details
  • Computer literacy in MS Office including Excel, experience with JDE or related accounting software, experience with Cognos an asset
