Job Description

We are seeking someone who is interested in furthering their career as an Operations Accountant (Part Time). Under the direct supervision of the Senior Accountant, Vancouver Island this position will be assisting with various aspects of accounting at Casino Nanaimo.


  • Assist with verifying, recording and reconciling various revenue, cost of sales and inventories at various outlets (Bingo & Lotto)
  • Reconciles promotion accounts, F&B and other cash floats
  • Support month end, quarterly and year end process
  • Participate in physical inventory counts, and accurate inventory valuation and food and beverage cost of goods analysis
  • Review and posts Food & Beverage revenue and cost of goods sold
  • Assist with preparing presentations, reporting and information packages for management
  • Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly and annual working papers, analysis and budget process
  • Work closely with Senior Accountant to maintain and improve financial procedures
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with all appropriate business units
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed


  • Minimum 1 year of recent working experience in accounting is required
  • Completion of an Accounting diploma/degree or working towards a degree
  • Studying for the CPA designation an asset
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Strong Excel skills and a high proficiency in other MS Office software
  • Understanding of Corporate ERP and Business Intelligence systems, ideally familiar with Cognos and JDE
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to achieve a Serving It Right certificate
  • The ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB)
