Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as Chief Booth Attendant within our Solid Waste Management Services Division.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Display and provide information to the public regarding City of Toronto diversion programs
  • Assists with various Solid Waste Management Services diversion projects
  • Loads and unloads trailers with signage, information and miscellaneous materials for Environment Day events
  • Assists the public in dropping off items for donation, reuse, and recycling at events
  • Takes in revenue from the public and reconciles money with products sold
  • Reads reports, memos, articles and brochures relating to the position to keep up-to-date and become more fully informed
  • Provides vehicular and pedestrian traffic control
  • Dismantles displays and packs up literature, displays, recyclable materials, etc. at the closing of an event


Key Qualifications:


Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Post-secondary education in Environmental Studies or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Experience in providing excellent customer service skills and dealing with members of the public.
  3. Experience in reconciling monies with products sold for the purposes of bank deposits.
  4. Possession of a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence is considered an asset

You must also have:

  • Broad knowledge of waste management practices inclusive of waste reduction, reuse and recycling, and disposal (including the curbside collection program, mixed plastics, and Transfer Station operations).
  • Knowledge of environmental initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player.
  • Must be able to work weekends and weekdays as required and to report to various work locations in a timely manner.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle detailed work with accuracy.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and work physically through a 6 hour shift
