Job Summary

 

Salary Range: $155,327-$232,992/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

Job Summary:

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Executive Director (ED), Clinical Operations reports to a Chief Operating Officer (COO) or designate and works in partnership with medical leadership in building and sustaining strategic leadership in leading the assigned area of responsibility, including responsibility for multiple clinical services, with multiple management reports for a geographic area or for a considerable physical site across the organization or for responsibility for multiple clinical programs. As a strategic and clinical governance sponsor of the defined service, the ED works with their portfolio partners to effectively integrate and standardize major components of a complex and comprehensive health system.

Working with medical leadership, the ED is jointly responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the assigned area of responsibility.  The ED ensures optimal clinical care and outcomes within the vision, mission and values of PHSA.  In addition is responsible for the effective and client-focused delivery of health and clinical services, and provides leadership and support to address issues that cross programs and/or sites.

The ED directs the development and implementation of service delivery models, business plans, priorities, goals and operating budgets, including people, financial and physician resources.

Qualifications:

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration, and a minimum of ten (10) years of recent related experience including experience a senior operations/administrative position within a health care organization.
Strong management abilities in managing people, department operations, and budgets.

Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to budgetary, staffing, quality and strategic initiatives.

Demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment.
Excellent people skills; ability to motivate, cooperate with and work effectively with others.
Proven ability to negotiate and mediate resolutions to complex situations.
Ability to set and maintain competing priorities through effective management and delegation skills. Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff at all organizational levels both internally and externally to the organization.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public relations and public speaking skills.
Ability to develop and analyze potential scenarios, and identify gaps with the current system(s)
