Health Economist

What you’ll do

  • Consistent with PHSA and BCC policy and professional standards of practice, conduct health economics research studies in collaboration with health care professionals within the BCC, PHSA and its agencies, the Ministry of Health Services and other external partners. 
  • Collect, link and analyze primary data and/or large administrative datasets
  • Conduct economic and qualitative analyses of health care programs and policy issues from a clinical, population and budgetary perspective. 
  • Prepare final health economics and service research reports for review by the Senior Scientist
  • Prepare abstracts, posters and oral presentations for submission to scientific conferences.
  • Disseminate findings by preparing manuscripts for scientific publication and executive reports for internal partners. 
  • Assist in the preparation of research grant proposals and reports for applications to funding agencies.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters’ Degree in Health Economics, Health Services, Health Policy or related discipline
  • One (1) year related experience in a healthcare or academic research environment. 
  • Knowledge of economics, health services and/or qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of study design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated the ability to independently perform data manipulation, analysis, and information presentation through the use of software.
  • Working knowledge of cancer control and health systems.
  • The ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to comprehend complex issues and related data/information and present information in concise and meaningful ways.
  • Demonstrated organization skills to generate work plans to meet project deadlines within timeline, scope, and budget.
  • The ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.

The service provider (“Brainhunter”) allows the option for you to delete your account after signing into the system. Before deletion you are advised with a warning. Your record is permanently purged / deleted from the respective site and the record will not be available in any searches. The job will have only the respective application information that you made previously.
