Hiring for Nurse Clinician role to support Provincial Outreach at BC Children’s Hospital.
To improve the coordination of care and better integrate the needs of our patients and families, BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) will be transitioning the management of the Child Health BC (CHBC) outreach services program into BCCH operations.
What you’ll do:
The Nurse Clinician role works directly with the subspecialty teams and the outreach sites to provide the following functions:
- Completing outreach checklist, containing all operational details of each clinic, including clinician attendees, schedule, equipment needs, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) protocols, etc.
- Working with the sites to schedule clinics.
- Rescheduling of outreach clinics as required due to BCCH physician/staff availability and/or capacity.
- Processing staffing overtime requests in consideration of BCCH staff availability to cover onsite.
- Working to resolve outreach operational financial issues and budgeting.
- Building local capacity of community providers, relationships with Indigenous Health and rural/remote communities and facilitating support for upcoming robust evaluation.
What you bring:
- Baccalaureate in Nursing plus three (3) years’ recent related clinical nursing experience which includes ambulatory care or community health service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- The Employer will equally consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (with the exception of Public Health and Preventative Nurses).
- Current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families.
- Ability to make decisions in an independent manner in a clinical setting.
- Ability to function as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team and function as a nursing resource.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Ability to operate related equipment (e.g. personal computer).
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Wage: $47.77 to $65.12 / hour
