Breast Health Radiologist
BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Regular Full Time/Part Time position(s)
Clinical Commitments are negotiable between (0.40 FTE to 1.0 FTE)
BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (BCW) is the only facility in British Columbia devoted primarily to the health of women, newborns and families. It provides a broad range of specialized women’s health services that address the health needs of women of all ages and backgrounds. BC Women’s is one of the largest maternity facilities in Canada, with over 7,000 births a year, and is both the major primary and secondary maternity services provider in the Lower Mainland and the cornerstone of the provincial tertiary care system.
As an academic health centre BCW’s mandate includes providing strong leadership in research and the education and professional development of health care professionals in areas related to the health of the populations we serve.
Focusing only on breast imaging we perform 8000 mammograms per year, diagnostic mammography including tomosynthesis and breast ultrasound. We are one of 2 sites in the lower mainland who perform both tomosynthesis and stereotactic core biopsies in addition to ultrasound guided core biopsy. Our goal is to complete all imaging required at the first diagnostic visit, allowing women to leave the department knowing the next step in their breast care journey.
Reporting to the Medical Lead, Breast Health Program, this role will assume clinical responsibility, participate in resident and fellow education as well as research for Breast Health at BC Women’s Hospital. In this position, you will apply current research evidence and best practice standards to provide diagnostic breast imaging services for women referred to the program including complex case management.
Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and procedural skills as well as a passion for advancing breast imaging.
Breast Health program, BCW Has to Offer you
- The opportunity to join our experienced team focused on quality patient centred care
- The chance to contribute to the growth of the program and shape the future of breast imaging in British Columbia
- An invitation to participate in the BC Cancer Breast Screening program, if eligible
Testimonial: The reasons I love working at BCWH are numerous. Not only is the leadership engaged but the breast health team is tightly knit and dedicated to providing the best patient care. We are expanding our program and aim to continue using novel technology such as contrast enhanced mammography for women with dense breast in the pre-operative setting. Call is not a requirement allowing me more time to spend enjoying my family and what Vancouver has to offer.
Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of British Columbia, have or be eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Radiology. Recognized fellowship training breast imaging is highly desirable. Applicants with clinical expertise in breast imaging on the basis of previous experience will also be considered. The successful candidate will be recommended for clinical faculty appointment to the University of British Columbia. Academic rank, dependent on qualifications, will be recommended by the Department of Radiology of the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine.
