Psychologist - BC Children's Hospital Eating Disorders

 

Improve the psychological health of children and youth.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Treat children and youth with medical, developmental, behavioural, psychiatric and other problems.
  • Contribute to departmental and organizational mandates and goals related to our role as an academic health centre.         

 

Accountabilities

 

As our successful candidate, you will:

  • Plan and organize services for your client group, in consultation with the Head of Psychology and working with other leaders.
  • Help coordinate the inter-disciplinary team for the clinic/program service delivery.
  • Coordinate and deliver a comprehensive range of psycho-diagnostic assessments and treatment services such as cognitive, educational and social/emotional evaluations and psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual or group therapy, behaviour management, play psychotherapy, hypnosis, biofeedback and parent groups.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans and outcomes and advise other members of the treatment team.
  • Be the primary psychology contact for others serving your patient groups.
  • Recommend program plans, evaluations and changes to the criteria and procedures for referrals, needs assessment and case documentation.
  • Promote the services of the department to the public, community and professionals’ groups as requested by the Head of Psychology and with other staff.
  • Advise colleagues, physicians and hospital personnel on psychological assessment, treatment modalities and patient care issues.
  • Prepare and deliver in-service presentations to department and hospital staff and academic teaching to medical and health care learners/staff as requested.
  • Supervise and evaluate psychology residents and other trainees and students. Participate in training pre- and postdoctoral fellows.                                       

 

Qualifications

 

You have:

  • Current registration by the College of Psychologists of BC, or eligibility for registration.
  • Training at the doctoral level in child clinical and/or developmental psychology, pediatric neuropsychology, or a closely related area.
  • Recent related experience in women’s and/or children, adolescent, psycho-diagnostic, clinical and/or health care environment.

  • Carry out duties efficiently.
  • Establish priorities and develop/implement short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Deal with others effectively.
  • Teach and provide instruction.
  • Proficiency in computer skills related to report writing and to recording and managing data.
