Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Professional Practice and working as part of the interdisciplinary team, the Nurse Clinician is accountable for providing functional direction and clinical support in nursing practice and participating in the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of practice, clinical services, and policies and procedures. The Nurse Clinician utilizes information based on specialized theory/practice in assessing clinical skills and participating in direct patient and family care as appropriate within the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital which provides services to persons found Not Criminally Responsible on Account of Mental Disorder, or Unfit to Stand Trial. Consults, confers, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, Mangers, Director and nursing resources, and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in patient centred care, education and research
Education, Training and Experience
- Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC) or the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
- Baccalaureate in Science (Psychiatric Nursing) or Nursing from a recognized university, plus three (3) years’ of recent, related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- The Employer will equally consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (with the exception of Public Health and Preventative Nurses)
- CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level I.
