The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care to pediatric patients who present to critical care areas consistent with established policies, standards, and philosophy of BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH).
The new Teck Acute Care Centre opening in November 2017 will be the heart of the BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital’s flagship for the transformation of child health in BC. The Centre will include a state-of-the-art NICU featuring modern single patient rooms to allow families to be together and comfortable amenities that support BC Women’s commitment to family centred care.
Education, Training and Experience
- Graduation from an approved Nursing Program.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
- Minimum of one year’s recent, related clinical experience in pediatrics or an Emergency Department setting or a Pediatric Intensive Care setting or Post Anesthetic Care setting.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Key Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families and others.
- Ability to function as an active member of multidisciplinary care team.
- Ability to demonstrate effective CPR techniques.
- Ability to organize work
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Ability to operate related equipment including applicable computer software
