Director, Patient Care Delivery – Vancouver Coastal

We are seeking to appoint a seasoned leader from a broad industry spectrum—health care; public or business administration; or emergency management. Reporting to the Senior Provincial Executive Director, you will lead a large, geographically-dispersed team to provide the seamless delivery of quality patient care across the health care continuum. Together with the Medical Leader, and a dedicated team of Managers, supervisors and first-line staff, you will collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders within the health care system that include Physicians, Medical Directors, Health Authorities, Community Leaders, Ministry of Health, and program areas within BCEHS to meet the BCEHS mandate for quality patient care.


You will lead a team of managers responsible for districts that encompasses a number of BC Ambulance stations spread across a diverse geographical area which includes both ground based paramedic services and air based critical care paramedic teams.


The successful candidate will possess strategic and visionary leadership both in the short and long-term and is recognized for building strong teams and stakeholder relationships at all levels. The Director will promote and lead an organizational culture that is patient focused, supportive and respectful of all individuals embracing BCEHS guiding principles and values. Demonstrating a high level of integrity, you are a champion of change and have proven ability to lead and manage within a large organization that is undergoing transformation. This multi-faceted role requires an individual with exceptional communication and negotiation skills, fiscal responsibility, and the expertise to align with the organization’s strategic direction while holding staff accountable by motivating them to meet or exceed expectations. With a commitment to quality and continuous improvement, the Director will foster open and transparent processes to solicit input and feedback as a means of improving future service.


You have a Masters degree or equivalent experience in a related area of study, and a minimum of eight to 10 years leadership experience from within EMS, health care, or public/business administration, with progressively increasing responsibility and accountabilities.
