The Fraser Valley Cancer Centre (FVCC) offers comprehensive cancer care as part of the BC Cancer Agency, an Agency of the Provincial Health Service Authority. It is located in Surrey BC, adjacent to Surrey Memorial Hospital.


The FVCC is recruiting for a 0.5 FTE (half time) GPO position in radiation oncology.


The physician hired will participate in the clinical, educational and research activities of the centre providing clinical support for a team of Radiation Oncologists. This will primarily involve outpatient care of patients undergoing radiation treatment with a minor component of inpatient care. The position has no on-call responsibilities and work hours are scheduled Monday to Friday, in keeping with the clinical hours of the department. The precise work days are negotiable and on the job GPO training will be provided.


In order to deliver quality care for our cancer patients, a knowledgeable, caring demeanour is expected and the ability to collaborate closely with oncologists, nurses, dieticians, councillors and radiation therapists is essential.


Candidates must be licensed to practice as a family physician in British Columbia and meet the requirements for appointment as a member of the medical staff of the BC Cancer Agency and Surrey Memorial Hospital. In-patient experience and some oncology experience is an asset, though not essential.
