Cascade is seeking a dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Avionics (AME-E) Crew Lead who communicates with Customer Representatives and other Cascade Aerospace personnel concerning the work to be done, organizes, directs and monitors the work of crew members, ensures documentation has been completed in accordance with industry/company policies/procedures, assists and coaches crew members as required. This position is on straight afternoons.

 

This position belongs in the bargaining unit and shall abide by all rules and regulations set out in the collective agreement. Only Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Strive to consistently act in a manner which reflects Cascade Aerospace’s culture and values;
  2. Establish, with the customer representative, the repair and/or upgrade work to be done and associated time requirements;
  3. Organize, direct and monitor the work performed by Structures crew members;
  4. Provide coaching and leadership to Structures crew members to ensure work tasks are performed efficiently and accurately, and appropriate skills to progress in the trade are developed;
  5. Ensure all paperwork, documentation, and reporting associated with a repair/ modification is completed accurately, and in accordance with structural repair manuals (SRM), Transport Canada regulations, customer requirements, and Cascade Aerospace’s Maintenance & Manufacturing Manual (MMPM), Quality Control Procedures (QCPM), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Process Standards (CPS);
  6. Liaise with the customer representative pertaining to the status of repairs and discuss any issues and concerns;
  7. Liaise with other Crew Leaders, Supervisors and Planners to coordinate daily, weekly and monthly tasks according to priority, time and workspace availability;
  8. Ensure the Structures department operates in accordance with Cascade Aerospace health and safety policies and procedures;
  9. Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures;
  10. Perform other duties as required.

CORE SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills: fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Basic computer skills
  • Specific skill and knowledge in performing manufacturing, maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft or systems and components in the areas of any of the following trades
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft or systems as it relates to the Crew Leader’s area of expertise
  • Knowledge of and ability to use supervisory techniques, including the ability to establish work standards, provide coaching and motivate staff
  • Ability to communicate in a constructive manner; explaining processes. Negotiating around difficult areas and providing a positive working environment
  • Ability to ensure that approved standards of Quality Control are maintained 
  • Safe work practices and techniques
  • Ability to manage labour hours and work flow to enhance productivity

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 Education:                 Grade 12 Diploma

 Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (approved by TCA or the applicable governing body)

 Type/Rating specific training

 Holder of full ACA Authorizations in accordance to Cascade Quality Control Procedures for C130J

 

                                   

 Experience:               Normally 10+ years experience performing heavy maintenance on variety of aircrafts

                                        Holder of AME license or Certification Authority within the scope of their trade for a minimum of 5 years

 1-2 Years experience filling in as Crew Leader and leading specific projects

 1-2 Years inspection experience
