Job Description

Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Purchasing Manager located at our Corporate Office in Markham, Ontario.

 

Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Purchasing Manager is accountable to provide leadership to support procurement operational excellence for corporate head office, corporate divisions, operations, SGP teams and external SGP members. Purchasing Manager will oversee key areas of operations, develop, and implement controls to support purchasing policy and department standard operating procedures. Working collaboratively key stakeholders, Procurement Manager will review current procurement processes to optimize operational effectiveness with the goal of achieving performance excellence. Working with the procurement team, Procurement manager will monitor and control compliance for key areas such as contracts administration processes, contracting standard operating procedures and enterprise procurement system. Purchasing Manager will also provide leadership for key vendor management processes, procurement onboarding/education for new hires, department intranet and external websites. Purchasing Manager will also manage selected procurement indirect spend categories for all Extendicare Divisions and SGP Purchasing Partner Network members.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all SGP contracts are appropriately negotiated and meets SGP contracting SOP and procurement policy
  • Working with Legal department, Procurement Manager is responsible for the administration of corporate contract repository
  • Working with Procurement team, ensure purchasing information communicated in intranet and external sites are current and complete
  • As the enterprise procurement system lead, review all capital purchase orders for compliance to corporate policies prior to order approvals. Review procurement dashboards monthly against set KPIs. Review results, identify issues for resolution and opportunities for actioning
  • Develop new hire onboarding documents and procurement forms and education/training materials to support department and operations
  • Negotiate, create and manage contracts for assigned categories and manage contract compliance
  • Responsible for vendor management and communications as it relates to assigned categories
  • Work with operations as they relate to assigned categories and provide support as needed
  • Support monthly rebate invoice and payments collections
  • Support marketing initiatives
  • Review new contracting opportunities as approved
  • Provide exceptional customer services and resolve issues on a timely basis
  • Update Sales Force with contract information for assigned categories
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as required  

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a University Degree or College program with emphasis on business or procurement or accounting in Business Administration
  • Minimum five years of experience in a manager role related to indirect purchasing in a corporate environment, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Product knowledge expertise in areas of clinical/nursing or food service supplies, equipment and services or food service will be an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and the Healthcare and Government Funding.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and must be highly detailed oriented
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, accountable and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Data Base applications.
  • Supply Chain Canada certificate or SCMP designation will be an asset.
