Candidates are invited to apply for the Application Training Specialist position to work at our Corporate Office located in Markham, Ontario, with the opportunity to work from home as needed during the COVID pandemic.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Healthcare Technology, the Application Training Specialist, Medication Safety Technology (MST) will be responsible for the overall curriculum and delivery of training for new Medication Safety technologies in Extendicare long term care homes across Ontario. You will assess and develop standard clinical workflows and develop training plans to ensure smooth adoption of MST solutions and realization of benefits. You are a motivated, results-driven team player who will work closely with nurses, physicians, pharmacists, technology vendors and a talented team of project managers, change managers, and IT resources to implement technology designed to improve the practices around the delivery and safety of medication for residents in long term care.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in the Medication Safety Technology solutions for long term care by understanding functionality, features, and workflows and keeping up to date with changes, pain points, and updates to the system;
  • Lead the design of training events and learning solutions employing appropriate learning methodologies to design or update learning products and solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to design or update learning programs that align clinical and business needs with training objectives.
  • Deliver training events and learning solutions to end users, using all mediums including in-class, e-learning, virtual facilitation, and blended models
  • Maintain training materials to ensure documentation is current and relevant given changes, evolution of functionality and end-user needs
  • Track, document, and report on training efforts, effectiveness, and results to management with appropriate feedback
  • Follow standard evaluation and measurement process/protocol to assess comprehension and adoption of knowledge
  • Interface with technology vendor’s customer success team members to leverage their training/learning materials and available resources
  • Identify areas of improvement, recommend and implement changes, and drive process improvements by using proactive and creative training techniques
  • Model innovative, creative thinking, and behavior at all levels of the organization to constantly seek ways to improve training delivery and challenge the status quo.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to deliver in-person training events
  • Support homes on-site with training and go-live activities
  • Provide post go-live support; Train application specialists on new functionality; Share Tier 2 support with application specialists; Design and maintain knowledgebase repositories of common issue resolutions related to MST solutions 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience training adult users on technology solutions and software functionality
  • Experience with healthcare applications preferred – schedule management, clinical documentation, medication order entry etc.
  • Adult Education diploma or certificate considered an asset
  • Experience with PointClickCare clinical modules considered an asset
  • Knowledge of current and creative training methodologies
  • Must be able to clearly communicate and disseminate information, workflows, and ideas to a broad audience to ensure effective training and understanding
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills - ability to construct reports and presentations with well-structured thoughts and presentation style;
  • Collaborative style with the ability to work well and communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a results-oriented style
