Administrator (Full-Time) – Extendicare, Vulcan

Candidates are invited to apply for the Full-Time position of Administrator at our Extendicare Vulcan home. This 46-bed facility is located in Vulcan, Alberta, approximately a one-hour drive from Calgary, and within the boundaries of the Alberta Health Services Calgary zone.

 

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Administrator assumes ultimate responsibility for the provision of high quality care while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide both strategic and operational leadership to the facility;
  • Working collaboratively with team members, establish the facility goals and objectives; manage the human, financial and physical resources for Care and Support Services of the facility.
  • Development of Leadership Team personnel; provide opportunities for learning and growth, and create an environment that will build knowledge and skills among all employees.
  • Consult with residents, families, the community and the long term care industry while building and maintaining a positive and dynamic public image for the facility.
  • Participate in the budgeting process and manage the operation of the facility within budget while overseeing the financial operations for the facility.
  • Implement facility wide best practise, risk management, MDS and CQI systems ensuring that services delivered meet the standards of Extendicare, Accreditation Canada and the industry in all areas of the operation with a focus on Customer Service, Customer Satisfaction and Customer Safety. Ensure that facility maintains compliance with all relevant legislation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current experience as an Administrator with Extendicare will be considered an asset
  • Post-secondary degree in health care administration or management
  • At least 3 years working experience in long term care administration in a managerial capacity in the health or social services sector
  • Demonstrated proven leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Customer-focused attitude, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Ability to generate creative solutions and new approaches to daily challenges
  • Proven evidence of using CQI principles for operational improvements
  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices, principles and legislation
  • Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and applicable legislation
  • Ability to adapt and manage in a changing health care system
  • Experience working with Human Resources and Labour Relations management
