Job Summary:

As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Glassware Washer cleans and sterilizes glassware, supplies and work areas in the BC Cancer Agency’s Research Centre’s laboratories and at the Institute for Advanced Medical Isotopes (IAMI) at TRIUMF.
Duties/Accountabilities:
1. Washes glassware and laboratory counters daily in all of the BC Cancer Agency’s Research Centre’s laboratories and in the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) areas at IAMI; dries, sorts and returns apparatus to appropriate areas.
2. Sterilizes laboratory glassware, supplies, and apparatus for the laboratories.
3. Monitors sterile water supply and sterilizes and distributes distilled water to dispensing containers throughout the laboratories as needed.
4. Cleans waterbaths and refrigerators.
5. Ensures work benches are kept clean and tidy.
6. Maintains a clean and safe work environment in accordance with established procedures, including completing required cleaning records
7. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience
• Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Ability to deal with others effectively. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to operate related equipment.
