Training Specialist, BC Health Workday

In accordance with the Purpose, Vision, Values and Coast Salish Teachings, and strategic directions of PHSA, safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The BC Health Workday Program is a provincial initiative with seven participating BC health organizations (Fraser Health, Interior Health, Island Health, Northern Health, Providence Health Care, PHSA and Vancouver Coastal Health). The program began in 2023 to implement a Human Capital Management System (HCMS) software solution as part of the BC Health Human Resources Strategy to transform HR services. Designed by Workday Canada, the new provincial platform will replace existing HR and payroll systems in the health organizations with a single, unified technical system that will standardize and modernize HR and payroll services. It is a significant transformation in BC and is vital to the sustainability of BC’s health system.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Training, the Training Specialist is responsible for assessing training needs, identifying skill gaps and developing curriculum that align with Ministry Health standards, and tailoring content for Regional end users. The Training Specialist designs, delivers and evaluates engaging learning experiences that builds user confidence, supports adoption and ensure alignment with regional HR practices. The Training Specialist partners with change management, transformation, communications, human resources and technology teams to develop and maintain a sustainable learning program that evolves with Workday releases and business needs, and is privy to sensitive, confidential change information related to the system transformation.

The Training Specialist ensures their materials and communication aligns with PHSA-wide work to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility standards across the organization.
