BCEHS intends to fill 1 (one) Temporary FT Regularly Scheduled Off Car Paramedic Supervisor vacancy in Mission.

 

Shift Pattern: Off Car Paramedic Supervisor

Shift Time: 06:00-18:00/18:00-06:00

Platoon: C

Rotation: CR3

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: February 28, 2027, or until return of incumbent

 

 

Off-Car Paramedic Supervisors in multi-station posts may be required to collect a vehicle at a centralized location or station. Where this occurs, and the distance from their home to the location they pick up their vehicle from is greater than the distance they would travel from their home to their assigned station, the Employer shall pay the difference in mileage pursuant to Article 22.09.

 

Off-Car Paramedic Supervisors attached to Mission Post will be required to pick up their vehicle from the following location:

This position is in accordance with Appendix 10 - Temporary Vacancies and Temporary Positions.  Temporary postings for Specialized Practice or Supervisory positions, or newly classified positions, will be selected in accordance with Article 13.03.  

 

Please note the following information:

  • If an employee relocates to fill a temporary vacancy or position, Article 13.06 will not apply, and the Employer will not be required to pay the employee’s moving expenses.
  • Employees may not utilize 13.03(d) or (e) to move into a regular position.
  • When an employee fills a temporary position, they will assume the shift pattern and hours of the position and must be available for the term of the vacancy or position.
  • Any on-call or RPT employee who fills a vacancy or  position will temporarily change status to Full-time. Employees will be entitled to all prorated vacation entitlements, leaves, and benefits associated with their temporary position or temporary vacancy.

 Selection Criteria

 

Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement.

 

 

In preparation for the upcoming Paramedic Supervisor examination/assessment, please view the required study reference material here.

 

 

Upon application, employees occupying a supervisory position, provided they meet the requirements of the position to which they are applying, shall be appointed on the basis of service seniority.

 

Next, vacant positions will be filled following the next steps:

 

Applicants first considered will meet the following eligibility criteria:

 

  1. Bargaining unit employee
  2. Three (3) years plus a day of experience within BCEHS at the relevant paramedic level 

 

The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing of the posting.

 

*All interested employees are encouraged to apply to Paramedic Supervisor vacancies. In the event there are less than four applicants who meet the criteria in Article 13.03(a) then the Employer shall first consider all bargaining unit applicants on the posting. 

 

  1. Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. 

 

All Paramedic Supervisor exams will be proctored exams; eligible applicants will be required to sign up for exam dates and times and participate in an online exam proctored through Microsoft Teams. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access.  You will need access to a laptop, computer or device with a camera and microphone to join the Teams meeting and complete the proctored exam.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam dates via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance.  

 

Online Exam Access:

Please be aware, applicants require access to a reliable internet connection via Google Chrome, and it is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

        2. Interview (45% of total score)

Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 75% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Video interviewing will be used to allow applicants to answer the questions remotely using recorded video.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance. 

Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

        3. Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)

Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.

 

The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record.
