BCEHS intends to fill 1 (one) vacancy for Temporary Full-time Regularly Scheduled Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) PRU position in Vancouver.
Station 248 Cordova
Shift Pattern: Papa 1
Shift Time: 05:30-17:30/17:30-05:30
Platoon: B
Rotation: 2
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: July 31, 2027, or until return of incumbent
Any successful candidate who has not yet completed the LRU Training would be required to attend and complete LRU Training starting on September 15, 2026.
The PRU will work as a single ACP responding to emergency and non-emergency calls. PRU ACP paramedics are responsible for all aspects of patient care, direction of employees in orientation to practice, and patient accompaniment during transport. PRU ACP paramedics will also be looked upon to provide clinical leadership in the continued professional development of paramedics in the field.

Selection Criteria
Employees will be selected for these vacancies in accordance with Article 13.03 (Specialized Practice) of the Collective Agreement.
Essential Requirement
- CUPE member
- must have three (3) years plus a day experience within BCEHS at the relevant Paramedic or Dispatcher level as applicable
- A current BCEHS preceptor/mentor or the ability to become one
- Satisfactory work record
The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing date of the posting per standard selection processes for CUPE 873 employees.
Selection Process
- Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment at a passing rate of 75% (accounts for 45% of overall score).This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access. The online assessment will be sent to qualified candidates’ BCEHS email and will be available for a 24-hour period. You will receive at least 7 days notice of the exam date.
- Successful completion of the interview at a passing rate of 75% (accounts for 45% of overall score). You will receive at least 7 days notice of the interview dates.
- FT Seniority (accounts for 10% of overall score)
Training
Successful candidates will be required to attend and successfully complete a variety of training, including but not limited to courses, orientation, and field training.
This position is in accordance with Appendix 10 - Temporary Vacancies and Temporary Positions. Temporary postings for Specialized Practice or Supervisory positions, or newly classified positions, will be selected in accordance with Article 13.03.
