Employees who were appointed into Acting Paramedic Supervisor roles at their current station prior to April 15, 2023 will grandparented into the acting Paramedic Supervisor role and will not be required to complete the selection process. 

 

Employees who were appointed into Acting Paramedic Supervisor roles at their current station on or after April 15, 2023 will be required to apply and compete if they wish to stay in their position.

Selection Criteria

 

Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement (a), (b) and(c). Article 13.03 (d) or (e) will not apply to Acting Supervisors.

Next, vacant positions will be filled following the next steps:

 

Applicants first considered will meet the following eligibility criteria:

 

  1. Bargaining unit employee
  2. Three (3) years plus a day of experience within BCEHS at the relevant paramedic level 

 

The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing of the posting.

 

 

Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)

 

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. 

 

All Paramedic Supervisor exams will be proctored exams; eligible applicants will be required to sign up for exam dates and times and participate in an online exam proctored through Microsoft Teams. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access. You will need access to a laptop, computer or device with a camera and microphone to join the Teams meeting and complete the proctored exam.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam dates via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance. 

 

Online Exam Access:

Please be aware, applicants require access to a reliable internet connection via Google Chrome, and it is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

Should you be unsuccessful on the written exam or pass the exam but not participate in the interview process, you will be counted as "unsuccessful" and will not be eligible to compete for roles in the same classification for a period of 6 months.

 

Interview (45% of total score)

 

Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 75% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Video interviewing will be used to allow applicants to answer the questions remotely using recorded video. Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance. 

 

Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)

 

Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.

 

 

The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record, attached to the correct station.
