Job Summary

Salary Range: $63,484-$91,259/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

The Coordinator, Research Data Management contributes to the development, implementation, and support of research, QIQA, and operational support projects and associated electronic research data platforms for the PHSA community. The Coordinator works closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on data development, management, linkage, and integration expertise on various Electronic Data Capture (EDC) platforms at PHSA. The Coordinator ensures research tools are maintained and supported to organizational standards. The Coordinator works closely with the Lead, Research Data Management to manage, develop, maintain, and enhance data operations for PHSA.
Duties/Accountabilities:
- Provides front-line solutions to end users by investigating first line issues and taking corrective action. Escalates more complex issues as required. Troubleshoots database issues with EDC vendor to resolution.
- Supports research and clinical teams’ use of EDC platforms throughout the project lifecycle by performing a variety of operational tasks. Follows appropriate programming and development methodologies and best practices for delivery of data services.
- Provides system users with EDC system orientation and training sessions, organizes educational and training workshops on various EDC.
- Educates, promotes, and assists research and clinical teams in the development of data management plans and good data management practices.
- Creates and maintains training material, ensuring that it is up-to-date and provides reference and promotional materials, on-line tutorials, and presentations to system users.
- Maintains ongoing communication with users, data management team, and technical support staff to ensure that information is exchanged regarding system upgrades, re-occurring problems and training issues.
- Works closely with the Lead, Research Data Management to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepares reports and regulatory documents and distributes to external stakeholders and/or groups as required.
- Assists in the development of custom programming solutions with the development team and research team members as required, this includes the development of programming release notes for custom solutions.
- Makes changes as needed to projects on PHSA EDC platforms for various data collection instruments including programming skip patterns and logic checks, when required.
- Assists in database upgrades/migrations. Develops, tests, implements, and executes procedures, methodologies, programs, and scripts to support EDC platforms and maintains required validation state.
- Facilitates project meetings to discuss and/or advise on project design and eCRF/survey preparation.
- Follow best practices for maintaining data in a secure environment. Performs security and audit checks for all supported projects including project archiving activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline and one (1) to three (3) years of recent related experience, preferably in a research environment, including experience developing and managing projects and databases using software for clinical research (REDCap, OpenSpecimen or similar).
- Understanding of the academic research process, clinical trial process, and data management process.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment with a diverse group of people, policies, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally as the role involves extensive stakeholder interaction.
- Experience in implementing and conducting training programs for staff.
- A combination of analytical, creative, critical thinking skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent troubleshooting and organizational skills, capable of identifying problems and developing creative solutions.
- Expertise in technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and deliver multiple concurrent assignments in a fast-paced and changing environment.
