BCEHS is looking for 10(ten) + plus adhoc Preceptor positions with Patient Transfer Network (PTN)
This EOI is open to all CUPE Dispatch employees following 13.03 process.
Job Duties
The PTNPreceptor will work with the Lead, Integration and Transformation - Patient Transfer Services and with their respective Practice Educators to support several responsibilities such as:
- Creating a safe learning environment that facilitates learning, growth and development.
- Using good communication skills – actively listening, sharing and respecting the learner’s input.
- Challenging, guiding, directing asking and answering questions in a positive and supportive manner.
- Using a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
- Becoming knowledgeable about and demonstrating familiarity with the goals and objectives of the learner’s training program.
- Determining the learner’s current skill and knowledge level related to their training experience.
- Setting clear expectations and learning goals for the learner.
- Reviewing and discussing core competencies with the learner.
- Assessing and coaching core competencies that are consistent with the learner’s level of education, experience and knowledge.
- Seeking out or identifying new learning experiences that are appropriate for their level of knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Ensuring that activities assigned and expected outcomes are consistent with the learner’s level of education, experience and knowledge.
- Documenting the performance, as required to confirm the successful completion of the practicum or education requirement or identifying areas requiring further training.
- Providing clear, concise, constructive, and timely feedback, using specific observations with helpful suggestions for improvement, delivered in a professional manner by focusing on strengths and areas for development.
- Providing direct supervision and intervening where appropriate to manage situations beyond the learner’s ability.
- Giving timely feedback and information, facts, and rationale of care.
- Ensuring that their practice and conduct, and that of the learner meet legislative requirements and standards of practice.
- Demonstrating professional, respectful, collaborative, and ethical behavior as outlined in the BCEHS Fostering a Culture of Respect Policy.
- Maintains confidentiality and protects the privacy of BCEHS employees and patients, as well as the learner’s performance related to their learning experiences and needs, in compliance with BCEHS and PHSA privacy policies.
- Completing other duties as required.
Selection Criteria & Process
Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement
Applicants must meet the following requirements as part of the selection process:
- CUPE member
- Must currently hold an I-EMCT license level and be employed in a full-time position
- One (1) year plus a day experience within BCEHS at the relevant dispatch level (I-EMCT)
- Satisfactory work record, must be maintained for the duration of this qualification.
Selection Criteria
- Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)
Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access. Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam date via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance.

2. Interview (45% of total score)
Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 75% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities. Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance.
Should you be unsuccessful on the written exam, or pass the exam but not participate in the interview process, you will be counted as "unsuccessful” and a score of 0 will be applied as your interview score and you will not be eligible to compete on roles in the same classification for a period of 6 months.

3. Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)
Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.
The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record.
Please note, employees accepting any Regular position under the Collective Agreement will not be entitled to rescind an accepted offer after 61 days of accepting the offer. Regular and Irregular employees may only rescind within 61 days after acceptance. You will also be required to report to your new position within the 61 days of acceptance. Employees that rescind an offer at any time arenot guaranteed to be placed back into their current/prior position.
