Interim Operations Manager - PTCC

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is hiring an Interim Operations Manager, PTCC. This position is expected to conclude on April 10, 2027. 

 

Role Summary

 

Reporting to the Director, Patient Transfer Services, the Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient development and delivery of programs specific to the Patient Transfer Services. The Manager is a provincial role and manages and directs staff, oversees program budgets, and is responsible for operational planning in collaboration with the Senior Provincial Executive Director and Director, Patient Transfer Services. The Operations Manager plays a key provincial leadership role as a member of Patient Transfer Services and is accountable for managing specific cost centres and personnel related to the Program. They are also responsible for performance management and development of the program staff. The Operations Manager works collaboratively with other leaders across BCEHS, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations with a focus on the delivery of evidence based clinical care using a patient centred approach; they facilitate research, education, and quality management associated with the program. The Operations Manager develops and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholder partners in regional health authorities, ministries, and community services.

 

What you’ll do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program by establishing priorities, assessing and monitoring staffing requirements
  • Follow up on incidents concerning staff and patients and ensure critical incident stress debriefing sessions are held as required
  • In collaboration with BCEHS leadership, determine priorities and strategic/operational directions for the PCCP programs
  • Represent the program on the BCEHS Quality Council and participate as a member of various committees as assigned
  • Manage and monitor operational/capital budgets and available resources to support the model of care and ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of services within the program
  • Work in close collaboration on a day to day basis with the Medical oversight and various departments to ensure the provision of efficient and effective service delivery
  • Work with stakeholder partner organizations, agencies, and associations to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Monitor quality outcomes, and assist in the development of key performance and quality indicators, evidence based outcome indicators, and accreditation and audit activities in conjunction with the Medical Director, and the Senior Provincial Executive Director
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff; Interpret and administer collective agreements and responds to enquiries from both unionized and management staff
  • Handle grievances and investigate work and staff issues and initiate disciplinary action up to and including terminations

 

Qualifications 

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in health or a combination of clinical or strategic operational experience with a minimum of 5 years of full-time operational management experience in EMS or equivalent experience and a demonstrated track record of effective leadership
  • Strong skills in operations management. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and to promote teamwork. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of quality assurance process, operational planning, and program development. Demonstrated ability, both written and oral, to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff. Demonstrated problem resolution and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to relate easily to a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019) and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Calls for Justice, and how they intersect across the health care system
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and highly motivated, to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team, to develop and foster a culture of education and research aimed at improving care delivery and resident outcomes, and to manage human and fiscal resources effectively and efficiently
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs and ability to utilize a computerized patient care information system
