BC Emergency Health Services is seeking employees to support the Planned Events and Canadian Cancer Society teams with the 2026 Cops for Cancer tours. Cops for Cancer is a charity cycling tour which occurs in four regions (i.e., Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Victoria, Prince George) to raise money for childhood cancer research. BCEHS paramedics will staff a Support Crew which follows the route to aid with medical emergencies during these tours.

Working in close collaboration with the Regional Event Lead, Support Crew Paramedics on Cops for Cancer tours play a vital role in keeping riders, volunteers, and tour staff safe throughout the journey. In alignment with BCEHS / Planned Events operations, they provide high proficiency on-site medical care and enthusiastic support for riders and community members, whilst also integrating into the Event Leads’ traffic, logistics, and safety management plans for the duration of the tour.

Following a pre-determined route, the tour will require the Support Crew to be in various locations overnight during the tour dates. Accommodation will be provided, when necessary, per the tour. Wage Maintenance will be provided for eligible employees per BCEHS FIN 001 and the Cops for Cancer FAQ document.

There will be volunteer commitments associated with this work, specifically during the pre-event orientation, non-wage maintenance qualifying dates within the tour (e.g., Peloton Rides), and other event duties outside of the tour riding times. Beyond the clinical aspect, this role is especially rewarding as it combines teamwork, travel, and meaningful community engagement—all while supporting a powerful cause.
