About the Opportunity:

 

Reporting to the Executive Director, Content and Communications, the Communications Manager will support the delivery of integrated internal and external communications that advance BC Cancer Foundation’s strategic priorities.

The role is primarily focused on internal and change communications, with the expectation of supporting corporate communications as business needs arise, including media relations, external events, and donor-facing communications.

Operating within strategy and priorities set by the Executive Director, Content & Communications, the role works closely with the Associate Director, Content & Communications and leaders across the organization to translate complex initiatives into clear, coordinated communications that drive alignment, engagement, and reputation.

The Manager brings strong editorial judgment, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to translate complex business updates into engaging, accessible content. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, operate as a trusted advisor to business partners, and elevate employee engagement through data-informed insights, brand-aligned storytelling, and modern communications practices.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Core Responsibilities

Primary Focus: Internal & Change Communications (70%)

Internal Communications & Execution

  • Execute and operationalize internal communications priorities set by the Executive Director, Content & Communications
  • Plan, develop, and deliver internal communications across channels (email, Teams, all-staff forums), ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational priorities
  • Own day-to-day communications planning, including calendars, sequencing, and coordination across teams and initiatives
  • Translate complex business priorities and updates into clear, engaging, and accessible content
  • Ensure strong editorial quality, tone, and consistency across all internal communications
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to foster alignment and incorporate diverse perspectives

Change Communications & Adoption Support

  • Support the Executive Director in delivering change communications for business transformation, technology, and organizational initiatives
  • Translate complex or evolving information into clear, practical messaging that supports understanding and adoption
  • Reinforce new tools, processes, and ways of working through structured communications and ongoing reinforcement
  • Contribute to a consistent and scalable approach to change communications across the organization

Secondary Focus: Corporate Communications (30% or as needed)

Corporate Communications

  • Contribute to the development of press releases, announcements, and media materials aligned with organizational messaging and priorities
  • Support communications for external events, including briefing notes and materials
  • Partner with regional teams to support donor communications and recognition, enhancing donor experience and engagement
  • Support corporate communications across priority initiatives, ensuring alignment between internal and external messaging
  • Contribute to consistent storytelling across donor, regional, and corporate communications
  • Ensure communications reflect BCCF’s values, voice, and commitment to trust, transparency, and impact
  • Partner with People & Culture to support the internal activation of BCCF’s culture, values, and employee experience priorities
  • Support organization-wide initiatives related to engagement and change through clear and consistent communications
  • Ensure internal communications reinforce desired culture and ways of working
  • Support communication of IDEA priorities, initiatives, and progress across the organization

Culture & IDEA (Integrated Across All Work)

Qualifications

  • 6–8 years’ experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related roles
  • Experience leading internal communications and supporting organizational change initiatives
  • Excellent editorial judgment, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, engaging content
  • Experience implementing and optimizing digital workplace tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, intranet platforms)
  • Strong understanding of multi-channel communications and content strategy
  • Experience using data and insights to measure effectiveness and inform continuous improvement
  • Experience leveraging AI and digital tools to enhance content development, workflows, and communications effectiveness
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High level of initiative and accountability, with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution
  • Passion for employee experience and building a connected, informed culture
  • Self-starter who proactively supports team priorities and contributes across the function as needed

Salary Range: $75,000- $95,000
