Job Summary:
Under general supervision cleans and disinfects equipment using cleaning agents approved by Infection Control, including removal of all adhesives and soiled matter. Allocates, retrieves, and maintains equipment required for the treatment of patient care, such equipment as wheelchairs, IV poles, beds, bedside tables, traction wagons, IVAC pumps, etc.
Duties/Accountabilities:
1. Issues and delivers equipment such as wheelchairs, IV poles, beds, bedside tables, traction wagons, IVAC pumps, etc. as directed to user areas and returns to the appropriate distribution inventory area as requested.
2. Checks all aspects of equipment to ensure they are operational. Prepares and sends a maintenance requisition for the repairing and replacing of equipment when necessary and arranges for transportation.
3. Checks date of sticker on pumps and forwards to Biomedical Engineering for mechanical inspections as required.
4. Clean & disinfect equipment in scope with cleaning agents approved by Infection Control, including removal of all adhesives and soiled matter.
5. Utilize the quality assurance tools such as “CLEAN” labels and associated protocols on properly processed equipment
6. Complete minor repairs to equipment, such a replacing a handle or cords.
7. Reports any conditions that may pose a safety concern or hazards to the Supervisor.
8. Responds to pages in a timely, effective and professional manner.
9. Provide ongoing feedback to the Supervisor on process and service, in order to improve the operations and contribute positively to patient care.
10. Maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organized environment in the Equipment Depot.
11. Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Grade 10, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
