Job Summary

Salary Range: $106,026-$152,413/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Adoption and Integration, the Senior Clinical Leader, Virtual Health uses expertise in care transformation and clinical innovation, clinical service delivery, operations and Virtual Health to facilitate and lead the discovery and implementation of virtual health within the clinical setting, in partnership with the PHSA clinical program clinicians and leaders, as well as with PHSA Provincial Clinical Programs and Health Improvement Networks to advance their key clinical strategies and goals utilizing Virtual Health to support new service delivery models. The Senior Clinical Leader, Virtual Health works with clinical programs to facilitate an understanding of their clinical needs, provides thought leadership on how virtual health care help transform their care and works collaboratively with leaders both in the Office of Virtual Health and the clinical programs to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate virtual health initiatives. Uses expertise in clinical service delivery, clinical practice and regulations and virtual health to support clinical programs to integrate virtual health based on their needs and maximize the adoption of virtual health as a way of delivering services. The Senior Clinical Leader will also collaborate with other health organizations in BC as appropriate.
The Senior Clinical Leader, Virtual Health is a key member of the Office of Virtual Health team and is responsible for continuously increasing the successful adoption and integration of Virtual Health into the practice and culture of the organization, while preserving alignment with Quality Systems and organizational strategic direction for excellence in care and service. The Senior Clinical Leader, Virtual Health is an advocate for Virtual Health and represents the Office of Virtual Health on various committees as required. The Senior Clinical Leader, Virtual Health also guides the development, recommendation and implementation of clinical policies, guidelines and other practice supports for Virtual Health.
Duties/Accountabilities:
- Supports the creation of strategies of Virtual Health in alignment with the program clinical strategy priorities and goals and with PHSA Virtual Health strategy and readiness by working directly with clinicians, managers and patients.
- Provides direct support to clinical programs in collaboration with the Director, implements action plans, tools and key communication systems for engaging stakeholders about Virtual Health initiatives.
- Liaises with PHSA clinical programs and leads, in collaboration with clinical programs, the process of investigating and understanding clinical needs and priorities and provides thought leadership on how virtual health can support new care delivery models to address identified clinical needs.
- Collaborates with clinical programs and Office of Virtual Health team members to identify virtual health initiatives that are in alignment with PHSA, the Office of Virtual Health and clinical programs strategy. Negotiates with clinical programs and the Office of Virtual Health team to determine resource requirements to implement Virtual Health initiatives across PHSA.
- Leads and supports the implementation of virtual health by gathering clinical requirements, leading clinical workflow and process re-design, understanding and providing consultation and leadership on the clinical and practice impacts and facilitating support, change management, education and evaluation plans.
- Provides clinical expertise to the Virtual Health team to help determine the clinical impact of new or changes to virtual health platform, including clinical process transformation and change management strategies. Provides feedback and support based on clinical expertise to the Office of Virtual Health as required.
- Works with clinical program supports in quality improvement, professional practice, and system transformation to ensure integration of Virtual Health initiatives in the clinical environment are consistent with clinical practice frameworks.
- Promotes PHSA Virtual Health best practice policies, procedures, processes, mechanisms and tools that anchor all activities. Promotes consistencies and sustainability of approach for all clinical programs implementing Virtual Health initiatives.
- Acts a role model for continuous learning and liaises, educates and collaborates with departmental, organizational and provincial leaders, care and service providers to advance individual and organizational practice capacity for Virtual Health.
- Initiates regular scans of the environment, literature and innovative projects to identify emerging practice trends as they relate to Virtual Health. Maintains familiarity with health care industry developments in Virtual Health and advises on implementation of related standards, tools and processes. Maintains competencies in Virtual Health and patient self-management in multiple clinical use cases
- Provides advice and direction related to adoption and integration of Virtual Health. Leads, develops, and executes clinical use cases, implementation and education strategies, clinical evaluation and performance metrics.
- Promotes safe, competent and ethical care by identifying practice impacts and creating supports such as guidelines, protocols and policies. Represents PHSA as a clinical expert participant in Virtual Health on key organizational and provincial committees as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in a related health discipline such as Health Administration, Business Administration, Health Leadership, plus a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in progressively senior leadership roles including a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a practicing clinician.
- Experience with system transformation, quality improvement, and design thinking or innovation methods. Knowledge and experience with virtual health is considered an asset.
