Salary Range: $67,861-$97,550/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.

 


Job Summary:

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.  

Under the general direction of the relevant IT manager, this position is responsible for all aspects of development and maintenance of new computer applications and enhancements to existing systems, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and procedures. This position is capable of working at the highest technical level in all phases of systems analysis and programming. Maintains a high level of technical support by learning assigned applications and by continuing technical education. Technical supervision and mentoring is provided to junior positions. Maintains a close liaison with all staff in related IT areas and formally reports any problems. Provides work process and outcome information and accurate time estimates.

 

Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Implements, evaluates, and revises processes for new and enhanced applications. This includes developing testing plans, implementation schedules, conducting presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and preparing documentation of computer program automated and manual procedures.
  • Works with vendors, and Infrastructure group to load, test and upgrade software applications.
  • Plans, analyses and implements new software applications and enhancements to existing applications. Prepares time and cost estimates for analysis, specification, programming, training and implementation of software applications. This responsibility includes resolution of data definitions and protocols within the corporate data architecture.
  • Maintains and supports assigned computer applications, including routine operations. trouble call resolution, and user support as required.
  • Understands and effectively deals with the interdependencies of software applications, hardware, operating systems, and network environment.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

  • University undergraduate degree or recognized community college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Professional membership encouraged and a minimum of five (5) years programming experience, two being in a Programmer/Analyst position; or Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to employer.
        

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of relevant hardware platforms, software products and enterprise database environments.   
  • Sufficient experience is required to execute a wide range of jobs from programming and analyzing, to conducting demonstrations, to training new users.   
  • Good understanding of hospital systems, software and the user environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; and interpersonal skills.
