Senior Business Analyst, Strategy, Planning & Implementation Team
BC Cancer

Work with Purpose

It would be enough if this opportunity were only about advancing BC Cancer’s vision of a world free from cancer. But this is more: it’s about being part of the team responsible for the strategy, planning, and delivery of B.C.’s 10-year Cancer Action Plan. We are an extraordinary team applying leading practices in project and change management, engagement, and transformation. It’s about you bringing skill, creativity, and drive – to work alongside some of the world’s best providers and researchers to transform cancer care. It’s about making a real difference to the one in two British Columbians whose lives are touched by cancer.

We are looking for passionate professionals with health sector experience to join our team. You will be supporting project managers and leaders in a number of projects to enable system-level transformation in cancer care, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and measurable outcomes.

We are looking for an individual who brings:

  • Health sector clinical experience: developing clinical and patient journey workflows, analyzing quantitative and qualitative information (e.g. engagement and partnership assessment) to inform project planning, change management and engagement approaches, and conducting environmental scans and best practice research to inform business decisions.
  • Analytical agility and creative problem-solving: applying strong organizational and analytical acumen to develop roadmaps, tools, processes, and reports that help teams plan and deliver projects effectively within complex and evolving environments.
  • Strategic framing: to ascertain pertinent and key information from complex healthcare content and analyses to prepare briefing documents that support strategic planning and priority setting.
  • Applied change management: supporting patients, staff, and internal and external partners through change — meeting people where they are and helping them succeed through transformation.

Together, we will take on the challenge — and make an impact that matters.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide strategic planning direction by leading and performing feasibility studies, workload efficiency analyses, and analyzing, designing, and implementing appropriate information systems, including identifying system deficiencies, operational inefficiencies, and methods to enhance business functions.
  • Analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions by critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level information into details, abstracting up from low-level information to a general understanding, distinguishing user requests from the underlying true needs, and driving and challenging business assumptions.
  • Elicit business requirements by engaging clinical/program operation owners, key stakeholders and subject matter experts, and using methods such as interviews, environmental scanning, document reviews, business process descriptions, “use case” scenarios and workflow analysis.
  • Facilitate consensus on issues, including business design features, program changes, data requirements, privacy issues and reports. Prepare in depth business and analytical reports for executives.
  • Develop business requirements specifications, project proposals, business cases, project summaries and other related documentation using standard templates.
  • Coordinate implementation of applications and/or processes by acting as liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams, and by ensuring documentation, user testing, user training, and business process change management are in place.
  • Participate in various operational and project committees and teams to facilitate and lead various initiatives like the development of clinical registries.
  • Develop and recommends budgets, monitors expenditures, analyses and reports on variances and implements remedial action for assigned projects. Allocates resources to achieve goals.
