BCEHS intends to fill 1 (one) vacancy for a Full-Time Regular Scheduled Dispatch Supervisor in the Vancouver Dispatch Operations Centre (VDOC).

Open to all EMD qualified BCEHS employees. Selection process will be in accordance to the 13.03 process as outline in the collective agreement. 

 

The Dispatch Supervisor positions are exciting roles for the BC Ambulance Service. They are experienced dispatchers who are leaders who work in a team-based collaborative environment focused on the growth and development of their peers and employees. They are accountable in the provision of efficient, effective and accurate service delivery through equitable application of BCAS policies. They will guide day-to-day operations within the dispatch centre. 

 

 

Vancouver Dispatch Center (VDOC) Dispatch Supervisor Pattern / Shift times -this is NOT a list of vacancies:

Team 1 0500-1700 / 1700-0500

Team 2 0500-1700 / 1700-0500

Team 3 0500-1700 / 1700-0500

Team 4 0500-1700 / 1700-0500

Team 5 0500-1700 / 1700-0500

Selection Criteria 

 

Selection will be in accordance with Article 13.03 of the Collective Agreement 13.03 (d) or (e) may not be utilized to move into a regular position.

Upon application, employees occupying a supervisory position, provided they meet the requirements of the position to which they are applying, shall be appointed on the basis of service seniority.

 

 

Next, vacant positions will be filled following the next steps:

 

Applicants first considered will meet the following eligibility criteria:

 

  • Bargaining unit employee
  • Three (3) years plus a day experience within BCEHS at the relevant EMD dispatch level
  • Satisfactory record check

The above noted qualifiers must be achieved by the closing of the posting.

 

  1. Knowledge/Skills Assessment (45% of total score)

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a knowledge/skills assessment. This assessment is online through the Learning Hub and must be completed from a location with reliable internet access.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the exam date via their BCEHS email address at least 7 days in advance. 

 

Online Exam Access:

Please be aware, applicants require access to a reliable internet connection via Google Chrome, and it is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

 

        2. Interview (45% of total score)

Applicants who successfully achieve a score of 65% or higher on the Knowledge/Skills Assessment will be scheduled to interview. Video interviewing will be used to allow applicants to answer the questions remotely using recorded video.  Eligible applicants will be notified of the interview date at least 7 days in advance. 

 

Should you be unsuccessful on the written exam, or pass the exam but not participate in the interview process, you will be counted as "unsuccessful” and a score of 0 will be applied as your interview score and you will not be eligible to compete on roles in the same classification for a period of 6 months.

 

 

Please be aware, you will require access to a reliable internet connection and a web camera. It is recommended to use a laptop or desktop computer. We discourage the use of mobile devices for these activities.

 

        3. Full-Time Seniority (Up to 10%)

Up to 10% will be applied to all candidates who complete the interview to determine their final score.

 

The successful candidate(s) shall be the employee(s) with the highest total score and a satisfactory disciplinary record.

 

Please note, employees accepting any Regular position under the Collective Agreement will not be entitled to rescind an accepted offer after 61 days of accepting the offer. Regular and Irregular employees may only rescind within 61 days after acceptance. You will also be required to report to your new position within the 61 days of acceptance. Employees that rescind an offer at any time arenot guaranteed to be placed back into their current/prior position.
