Job Summary

Salary Range: $62,239-$89,469/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.


Job Summary:

As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Records and Benefits (ERB) and under the work direction of the Team Coordinator, the Senior Associate (SA) is responsible for entering relevant information into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and updating enrollment with benefit carriers as required. The SA communicates with internal and external customers while processing and/or clarifying employee information or responding to inquiries related to hires, transfers, leaves, terminations, and benefit entitlements. The SA analyzes queries and audits to ensure accuracy of data, identifies process gaps and makes recommendations to the Manager and Team Coordinator for implementation. The SA is involved in the development, coordination, and delivery of training to staff and provides ongoing support, coaching and mentoring.  Acting as a subject matter expert, the SA is the first point of contact for escalated issues within the Functional Team and provides guidance, direction, and collective agreement interpretation to assist in complex situations and processing decisions.

Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Processes employee transactions in a timely and accurate manner related to new hires, transfers, terminations, leaves, status/salary changes, seniority, and other relevant information in accordance with documented service level agreements.
  • Processes audits in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of employee records and benefits.
  • Identifies audit discrepancies, process gaps and opportunities to provide quality improvement recommendations to the Manager and Team Coordinator.
  • Responds to internal and external customer inquiries, investigating/analyzing problems and making necessary adjustments by liaising with Payroll, Recruitment, HR and other employers or governmental agencies.
  • Provides training to staff, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and advice to staff, ensuring appropriate and consistent advice is being provided.
  • Troubleshooting, resolution, identification, and recommendation of preventative actions as necessary for complex inquiries and escalations  
  • Liaises with benefit carriers, other employers, professional associations, regulatory bodies, and governmental agencies as required to share information, clarify discrepancies, resolve problems, and deal with employee concerns.
  • Updates standard operating procedures and monitors compliance.

Qualifications:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Management, or a related discipline plus three (3) to five (5) years recent related health care experience.
  • Ability to deal tactfully in resolving conflict and building consensus within a team.  
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
