The Team Lead will provide leadership across Acute and Medication Management teams, overseeing Cerner inpatient clinical documentation, orders, and closed-loop medication workflows. The role ensures integrated, safe, and efficient clinical and pharmacy processes that support high-quality patient care across the acute care continuum.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for managing the planning, implementation, integration, operation and future enhancement of designated strategic, enterprise-wide Information Systems for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Providence Health Care (PHC) or designated health service delivery area(s). Provides leadership and direction to staff and applications support across multiple sites. He/She is the primary contact for enhancement requests and issues. Coordinates responses to user initiatives, requests and issues with team members and other staff as needed to meet the defined objectives of the service. Primary working relationships are with IMIS Regional Managers and working level staff within Integration and Planning, Solutions, and Technology Services as well as managers/directors throughout VCH and external vendors. The incumbent directly supervises team members with both clinical and technical expertise such as Clinical Analysts, Senior Systems Analysts, and Systems Analysts/Programmers and provides guidance and direction to Applications Coordinators of clinical areas, as applicable.
What you’ll do
Ensures systems/services are supported with the highest levels of service availability and performance. Leads system health checks and remediation efforts in collaboration with various technical teams and clinical application vendors. Leads and assist with all system maintenance/change management responsibilities including upgrades, major patches and expansions. Participates in system monitoring activities; security risk assessments; system internal audit activities; and system quality assurance practices. Coordinates the release and technical changes across a multitude of stakeholder groups across health authorities, specific sites, vendors, technical groups and clinical users.
Assists with operational and capital projects through the project development life cycle e.g. planning, design, implementation and go live support. Participates in organizational team building development and optimizations of support structures that will be used by the organization to direct future development and change.
Manages internal and external stakeholder and vendor relationships throughout day to day operations and inflight/capital projects. Ensures problem resolution and customer satisfaction through ongoing communication with all levels of leadership, clinical and technical stakeholders within VPPL. Assists stakeholders/vendors with escalating major system issues/risks and remediation efforts.
Leads the analysis of the current state and future requirements for the designated clinical application/service. Initiates the development of specific goals and objectives. Accountable for identifying healthcare operations and system impacts of changes and defects within complex and integrated solutions.
Provides leadership, guidance and supervision of staff using effective leadership techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development and performance management). Provides staff training and orientation as required. Participates in staffing decisions related to recruitment, retention, discipline, and termination. Monitors financial resources with respect to operational obligations; takes corrective action as necessary.

Qualifications
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor Degree in a related field plus five (5) years recent related experience. Applicable qualifications include a Computer Science degree and experience working in a healthcare environment or a healthcare degree and experience working in a systems environment will be considered. Minimum two (2) years recent experience in a leadership role.
Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including supported by significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within Digital Solutions contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system.
Core Competencies
Brings an understanding of the Indigenous specific racism and the broader systemic racism that exists in the colonial health care structure, and has demonstrated initiatives in breaking down barriers and ensuring a safe environment ensuring a sense of belonging to all and informed by Indigenous Cultural Safety.
Awareness of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (the Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
Skills & Knowledge
A proven leader with expertise coordinating activities of staff, project work teams and resources to ensure effective project management, and ongoing applications training and support. Proven hands-on specialized experience in an integrated environment with related applications/systems. Strong enterprise-level experience in the administration and implementation of applications/services in a large-scale environment. Relevant certification such as those provided by Microsoft, ITIL, and PMI would be an asset.
Expert knowledge and understanding of technologies and strategies, including the design, development, testing, implementation and support functions related to a variety of clinical applications/services. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminology. Ability to understand and clearly relate technical information and principals of operation with a variety of clinical and technical stakeholders both internal and external to the organization. Understands customer clinical and technical issues and develops solutions for achieving operational goals/objectives and ensuring user needs are met. Ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions, demonstrating time management skills.
Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines. Ability to supervise staff, provide guidance, coordinate work and resources, and evaluate performance in a unionized environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively function within a complex healthcare environment as part of a shared service that supports multiple organizations. Uses sound decision-making abilities to address complex and divers systems issues, which could have a significant impact on patient care. Maintains an awareness of current clinical information systems trends through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations and attendance at seminars, workshops and educational programs.
Demonstrates a commitment to beginning and/or continuing their personal learning journey related to Indigenous-specific racism and dismantling systems of oppression, as well as addressing racism more broadly. Shows willingness to articulate and share their learning experiences to contribute to a culture of motivation and inspiration among peers.

Salary Range: $88,990 - $127,923 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
