Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Warehouse Cleaner performs a variety of light and heavy cleaning duties such as sweeping, damp mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors, vacuuming carpets and dusting and polishing furniture. Washing walls, windows and ceilings using a variety of tools such as brooms, mops, cloths.  Operates equipment such as vacuums. Cleans and disinfects washrooms, reusable waste containers and warehouse returnable bins using cleaning solutions/deodorizers as per established standards and procedures. Notifies supervisor of equipment and/or items that need repair and when housekeeping supplies need to be ordered.

Duties/Accountabilities:

1.    Cleans areas such as floors, stairways, walls and windows by methods such as sweeping, spot washing and damp mopping.
2.    Cleans carpets and rugs by methods such as shaking, vacuuming and using a domestic carpet cleaning machine.
3.    Cleans items such as furniture, ledges, fixtures and blinds by methods such as dusting, wiping and polishing.
4.    Cleans and disinfects washrooms.  Replenishes items such as soap and paper towels.
5.    Empties and cleans waste containers and removes garbage from the building to outside garbage bins.
6.    Cleans warehouse returnable bins using an industrial washing machine or manually wiping.
7.    Maintains warehouse area in a clean and orderly condition according to established warehouse safety standards by performing duties such as breaking down and removing wasted cardboard.
8.    Maintains related equipment by cleaning and replacing items such as filter bags.
9.    Notifies supervisor of equipment, fixtures and furniture in need of repair.
10.    Monitors inventory of housekeeping supplies and advises supervisor when ordering is required.
11.    Clears snow from building entrances.
12.    Assists with heaving cleaning duties such as stripping, waxing and buffing as required.
13.    Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.  Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
14.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience

Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
