Job Summary

Role Summary

In accordance with the Purpose, Vision, Values and Coast Salish Teachings, and strategic directions of PHSA, safety, including both patient and employee safety, is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA. As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The BC Health Workday Program is a provincial initiative with seven participating BC health organizations (FHA, IHA, ISLH, NHA, PHC, PHSA and VCHA). The program began in 2023 to implement a Human Capital Management System (HCMS) software solution as part of the BC Health Human Resources Strategy to transform HR services. Designed by Workday Canada, the new provincial platform will replace existing HR and payroll systems in the health organizations with a single, unified technical system that will standardize and modernize HR and payroll services. It is a significant transformation in BC and is vital to the sustainability of BC’s health system.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Training, the Communications Specialist leads the implementation of communication and engagement strategies, including brand and related tactics, and provides expertise and guidance to colleagues by writing, editing and producing communications materials for and related to the provincial BC Health Workday Program. The Communications Specialist is responsible for providing advice and communications services to the provincial BC Health Workday Program within their assigned health organization(s), and to other regional partners and (internal and external) interested parties. • Evaluates the effectiveness of communication plans within the assigned health organization(s) by monitoring outcomes, analyzing feedback and performance metrics, and presenting recommendations to leadership to strengthen future strategies and maintain alignment with organizational and project objectives.
  • Determines content in collaboration with the Communications and Training Team, BC Health Workday Program leaders, and health organization partners. Researches and writes communications materials in collaboration with partners such as Indigenous Health and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion specialists, designers, photographers, and printers as needed.
  • Writes, edits, and produces engaging communications such as online media, website, Intranet, internal briefs, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, displays, speaking notes, educational materials, and presentations.
  • Ensures quality, consistency, and effectiveness of complex communication materials.
  • Represents the voice of the BC Health Workday Program through communication channels including social media. Actively monitors and responds to social media mentions and, when necessary, identifies exchanges that need to be elevated to the BC Health Workday Program leadership or Change Management Office.
  • Maintains awareness of new developments and trends in communications through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, industry advisor groups and professional associations, and attendance at seminars, workshops and education programs.

Qualifications
