Change Management Lead, BC Health Workday
Role Summary

The BC Health Workday Program is a provincial initiative with seven participating BC health organizations (FHA, IHA, ISLH, NHA, PHC, PHSA and VCHA). The program began in 2023 to implement a Human Capital Management System (HCMS) software solution as part of the BC Health Human Resources Strategy to transform HR services. Designed by Workday Canada, the new provincial platform will replace existing HR and payroll systems in the health organizations with a single, unified technical system that will standardize and modernize HR and payroll services. It is a significant transformation in BC and is vital to the sustainability of BC’s health system.
The Change Management Lead is responsible for guiding change management initiatives for the BC Health Workday Program across all impacted BC health authorities. Working in alignment with each health organization’s culture, the Lead ensures that change efforts maximize employee adoption and usage while minimizing resistance. The role encompasses changes to business processes, systems and technology, job functions and organization structures, with a strong emphasis on developing and executing effective change management plans that foster engagement. The Change Management Lead works to drive faster adoption and creates higher utilization and greater proficiency on the changes impacting front-line employees, managers, and back-end system users across all seven health organizations. In addition, the Lead designs and implements change strategies while providing coaching and support to leaders as they guide their teams through the transition.
Key Accountabilities
- Develops change management plans and strategies that foster engagement, minimize resistance, and maximize user adoption across the impacted BC health authorities. Aligns change strategies with each health organization’s culture to ensure effective adoption.
- Cultivates and maintains an effective change champion network, builds influence within the network and provides coaching, mentoring, and support to change champions regarding effective change management approaches.
- Guides and supports change management initiatives across all impacted BC health authorities by identifying potential change impacts on staff , processes, and systems,- anticipating points of resistance, and developing specific plans to mitigate or address the concerns, identifying resistance and performance gaps, developing, and implementing corrective actions.
- In collaboration with the Manager, Business Readiness & Change, develop readiness assessments; evaluates results and presents findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner.
- Develops and supports the execution of a set of actionable and targeted change management plans, including senior leadership engagement plan and resistance management plan, in collaboration with Change Management Team, leaders and vested parties.
- Provides active and visible coaching to executives and leaders regarding effective change management practices
- Creates and manages measurement systems to track adoption, utilization, and proficiency of individual changes, provides insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Works with the Communication, Training and Transformation teams as well as other cross-functional workstreams and external partners in the formulation of plans and activities to support project implementation and integrate change management activities into the overall project plan.
Qualifications
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Change, or Business Administration supplemented by five (5) to seven (7) years of recent, related experience in leading change or technology change in a health care setting. PROSCI Certification or equivalent experience of change management principles and methodologies is an asset.
- Demonstrated recent knowledge of the systems, culture and organizational systems intelligence in a health care organization.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and leadership in organizational change, change theory and adoption principles and how these principles can be translated into implementation strategies to generate strong system adoption.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and influence senior leadership towards a common vision.
- Demonstrated ability to see the “whole picture” in relation to the project.
- Proven ability to influence, engage, collaborate on and coordinate change activities successfully and positively across multiple organizations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex ideas and technical concepts into compelling visuals
- Familiarity with project management approaches and methodology.
- Experience with large scale organizational change efforts.
- Experience with strategic planning and tactics and problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time
Wage: $88,990 to $127,923.00
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
