BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is hiring a Manager, Talent Acquisition

 

Role Summary

 

The Manager, Talent Acquisition plays a key leadership role in overseeing internal recruitment for BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS). Reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition, you will guide the BCEHS TA team through full-cycle recruitment, ensuring effective systems, reporting, and processes while driving innovative and strategic recruitment initiatives. Your HR and leadership experience will help strengthen health-care teams across the province—directly contributing to improved patient care for communities throughout British Columbia.

 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Coach, mentor and develop the Talent Acquisition team to advance their skills in strategic thinking, assessing, problem solving, and relationship management.
  • Oversight of various internal recruitment processes and ensuring the appropriate supports and processes are in place.
  • Manage the full internal recruitment cycle, end-to-end recruitment process, including management and oversight of mass postings, working in collaboration with hiring managers throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with team members, HR colleagues and our system partners (e.g. Scheduling and Employee Records and Benefits) to create solutions, remove roadblocks and improve recruitment processes.
  • Work in partnership with internal partners including our Culture and Leadership, Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion teams to ensure and strengthen safe and inclusive hiring strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with hiring managers and internal partners.
  • Sound knowledge of the APAD Collective Agreement is essential for this role
  • Strong preference will be given to applicants who have direct experience with BCEHS internal recruitment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

What you bring

 

Qualifications

 

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Commerce/Business Management or related field
  • 7+ years’ of recent experience in Human Resources and/or Talent Acquisition, including 2+ years’ experience in recruitment of senior- and executive-level positions (e.g. senior manager and higher)

  • Implements team priorities with the Director and assists team members to define shared and individual goals, meet target dates and ensure alignment of team goals with client need.
  • Implements, evaluates and provides input to the overall goals, objectives and operations of team.
  • Provides leadership to the larger internal recruitment team in best practice by developing strategies and implementing new or revised processes to provide service to clients and other HR business streams in meeting their business needs.
  • Energized by working with interdisciplinary teams to design business solutions which support the organization’s big picture; is and engaging, collaborative, and diplomatic.
  • Transparent leader who sets the tone of cooperation amongst clients and peers.
  • Strong knowledge of the APAD Collective Agreement and other collective agreements applicable to BCEHS.
  • Working knowledge and experience with human resources practices and principles including provincial legislation (e.g. human rights, employment standards, health and safety), collective agreement administration and the ability to effectively interpret and apply accordingly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to positively influence and champion change.

 

Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity

  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies, including knowledge, and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism and anti-racism.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.)

While BCEHS would consider a foundation in Indigenous cultural safety to be a strong asset for consideration, our commitment to enhancing Indigenous cultural safety includes providing all employees with access to resources and training programs in partnership with San'yas Core Health Indigenous Cultural Safety Training and Anti-Indigenous Racism Response Training.

Typical Hiring Range: $119,280 - $132,533

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
