Note: The Langley Fulfillment Centre (referred to as the Langley Campus and consisting of two buildings) will be the incumbent’s home work location.

The incumbent may be required to work at other lower mainland warehouse locations, based on operational needs, that include the following worksites. Travel required, as needed.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general maintenance and cleaning duties in the warehouse.  Duties include cleaning and dusting, constructing items such as shelves and cupboards, changing/replacing signs, changing/installing light bulbs and ballasts, performing electrical and mechanical repairs in compliance with applicable codes and regulations, identifying nature of malfunction of equipment and repairing or recommending for repair by appropriate tradesman.  Operates a forklift and transports goods according to WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods guidelines.  Operates a motorized floor cleaner.

Duties/Accountabilities:

1.    Repairs furniture such as tables, cupboards and shelves, and repairs items such as doors, walls, and floors, and replaces signs.  Constructs items such as shelves and cupboards.

2.    Repairs and replaces warehouse racking and crossbeams.

3.    Performs electrical and mechanical repairs by disassembling motors and equipment, cleaning, oiling, greasing and replacing parts such as brushes, elements, bearings, filters and wires and soldering connections.

4.    Installs items such as timers, switches, receptacles and ballasts and changes circuits in accordance with provincial regulations and standards. Installs and changes light bulbs and ballasts at heights of up to 30 feet.  Performs safety checks on electrical appliances for defects such as faulty wires and improper grounding.

5.    Identifies nature of malfunction of equipment and appliances, and repairs or refers to appropriate tradesman as required.

6.    Maintains water and electrolyte levels in material handling equipment, inspects battery charger station and related equipment weekly.

7.    Applies paint and other finishes by brush, roller and/or spray; removes and replaces coverings such as tiles, linoleum and carpets.

8.    Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment, recommends repairs and purchases as required.

9.    Transports a variety of supplies and/or materials in the warehouse by operating forklifts as required.

10.    Cleans areas such as floors, and stairways, by methods such as wet mopping, scrubbing, stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing and polishing.  Dusts all furniture and equipment on a regular basis as outlined by the Supervisor.

11.    Washes areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, air vents, and ducts, steam cleans items such as waste receptacles.

12.    Handles hazardous goods in accordance with W.H.M.I.S. and Transportation of Dangerous Goods guidelines.

13.    Maintains warehouse area in a clean and orderly condition according to established warehouse safety standards and CSA guidelines by performing duties such as removing wasted cardboard and shrink wrap from assembly lines.

14.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience

Grade 10 plus two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
