Job Summary


Job Summary:

As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Treatment Module Leader Radiation Therapy Lead is responsible for the administrative, clinical and research activities of the module, and for ensuring that all activities meet provincial program and professional standards.

Duties/Accountabilities:

1. Provides leadership and supervision to all staff by team building, mentoring and coaching and assisting in conflict resolution and problem solving.
2. Accountable for the process of care within the module by setting and maintaining established standards and operating within budgetary limits.
3. Accepts accountability for Radiation Therapy practice for all staff.
4. Works with other module leaders and communicates effectively with all team members to provide continuity of care within and across the modules.
5. Supports and promotes staff to apply critical thinking and inquiry into routine practice.
6. Promotes knowledge generation and clinical research activities.
7. Works with other module leaders to develop standards for scheduling and is responsible for scheduling and time-reporting within the module.
8. Ensures that all treatment areas are staffed and casual coverage between the modules is co-ordinated.
9. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families and staff by ensuring all staff adhere to safety policies, standards and emergency procedures.
10. Participates as a member of the selection group for staff within the modules by recruiting, interviewing and recommending suitable candidates.
11. Monitors financial reports and assists with preparation of the annual budget for the module.
12. Responsible for orientation of staff within the modules, ensuring all team members participate.
13. In collaboration with the other Module Leaders, provides input regarding orientation.
14. Maintains a performance development program, providing staff with performance feedback and assisting them annually in establishing professional goals and performance objectives.
15. Interprets and applies collective agreements regarding progress discipline for non-medical team members and participates in the grievance process as defined by the appropriate collective agreement.
16. Responsible for quality assurance activities in the module by conducting and/or reviewing audits or analyses; reviewing reports and recommending action.
17. Collects, analyses and distributes statistical information.
18. Accepts accountability for maintaining knowledge of current Radiation Therapy practice.
19. Ensures treatment schedules are coordinated to provide for timely access to care.
20. Ensures emergent and urgent cases can be accommodated without undue disruption of established schedules.
21. Ensures equipment faults are logged and reported to the Medical Physics Leader or designate.
22. Member of Regional RT Leadership Team.
23. Participates in the selection of equipment for the program/process by documenting need, reviewing, evaluating and recommending items for purchase.
24. Determines own learning needs and meets them in collaboration with the professional practice leader for Radiation Therapists.
25. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience
• Completion of post graduate program in Radiation Therapy or an equivalent combination of education.  Completion of management program.
• Five (5) years recent related experience at a supervisory level or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Agency.
• Canadian Association for Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) Certified.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including ability to function as a team leader, communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, listen actively, provide effective constructive feedback, manage confrontation and conflict, act as a coach, mentor and team builder.
• Demonstrated skills in CPR techniques.
